Paper Dreams Flash Game Review

Link: Paper Dreams
Developer: PegasGames
Genre: Shooter/Upgrades
FlashMush Rating: 6.5/10

Paper Dreams in one word is crazy. Whether or not you like the craziness presented here I guess is personal opinion but crazy is the way to describe it.

Graphics is what will catch your eye first in Paper Dreams and you'll have varying thoughts on that alone. I for one like the graphics. They are "hand drawn" and look like sketches. Reminds me exactly of the Notebook Wars series. Others may not like this style however. Gameplay wise is also going to be hit or miss, I feel, for people. It plays like an arcade shooter game but the presentation is way different. Instead of say controlling a space ship or something which flies around the screen you are a stick figure who, while can sort of fly around the screen, is best suited to staying low and only moving horizontally. Also the enemies are presented in a weird way that is hard to explain. I will say however that this presentation of gameplay style, while "unique", is really counter intuitive and doesn't facilitate good gameplay at all.

Paper Dreams Upgrades

To combat this I suppose Paper Dreams implemented an upgrade system. Makes the gameplay easier to play by making you stronger, that type of theory. And for the most part it's true. My only complaint in their upgrade system is it is a very, very, very confusing interface. Not intuitive at all. Overall though Paper Dreams is an interesting game to say the least I just wish the execution in terms of gameplay was done in a more smoother fashion.
