With the name and especially the main protagonist (a hot schoolgirl obviously), Schoolgirl Vs. Orcs really seems like it could be a new anime or manga, but nope, it's just a flash game!
Schoolgirl Vs. Orcs employs a simple and addictive gameplay style. You are the hot schoolgirl and you must shoot the ugly orcs before they kill you. Of course in between each wave you can buy a better gun if you have the money, typical defense shooter. In fact that is what Schoolgirl Vs. Orcs is. Very typical and it has the foundation in place with some nice graphics. However, it lacks a lot of things. And I feel these could have been easily identified and fixed in any sort of beta trial. First off the upgrade system is very small and even if you only buy say one weapon (out of the measly four) and save all your money you only can buy the most powerful weapon almost at the last level. Secondly, the boss battles, while a good and necessary addition....are terrible. They just are big versions of normal enemies and offer no challenge. In fact the way to beat them is to just empty your clip into them, which is annoying as that takes forever. This leads into another issue, the ammo. It's an interesting idea but could use some work, basically you start out with say 1000 ammo for all guns (all guns take the same ammo), as you use it up it's gone for good. You cannot buy more ammo in the shop. Instead you have to collect ammo from dead enemies. So again, interesting concept, but sometimes I wish I could buy ammo or even have separate ammo types.
There are also a few "bugs" I encountered such as freeze ups and enemies getting stuck on the background. Which brings me to the background, its ok but some more variety would be nice and make the boundaries more discernible. I do like how occasionally a little anime cartoon comes up showing you headshoting or just plain ole' killing the orcs. Overall I found Schoolgirl Vs. Orcs, while obviously lacking in so many areas, still a fun game to waste a good 30 minutes of my time on.

Haha! Game made me laugh, the "schoolgirl" part was sort of interesting. There are definitely some improvements to be made, but good one time play.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy it at first but then got tedious and the boss battles are horrendous...
